DEMONSTRATION

Shawn Travers, from Microsoft, is going to be our guest presenter. The last time he gave a demo, he handled himself and all of the anti-Microsoft sentiment / jokes that came his way with aplomb. He has promised another good demo this month. He is going to go over the new VISTA operating system. He may bring some Microsoft prizes too.

Make sure you attend and be polite (Chuck). He is a guest...

HOLIDAY PARTY PRIZES

We're starting to gather up the prizes. Let me know if you can help out with the rebate items or if you have something to donate to the Holiday Party give-away extravaganza.

PROGRESSIVE RAFFLE

Our progressive raffle is up to $325 and we'll try to give the jackpot away again this month. As usual, we'll have five small prize winners in our monthly raffle. They'll get their small prize and a chance to pick a card from the deck in hopes of getting the Joker. There are only 8 cards left in the deck. I'm pretty sure someone is going to win this month. If not, we have some new prizes that the board members and I picked up. Make sure you are at the club meeting and that your dues are paid up to get a chance at the $325 and the great prizes. Good luck.

See you at the meeting,
Mike

 A Monster of a Time !!!
by  Jason Whitener / GCC  Librarian

A Monster of a Time

Well for this month's disk release, I just decided that since it was October and Halloween was this month, I'd put together some Fan Films for your enjoyment. These are short fan developed movies that are non-commercial and are developed by fans for fans.

I've tried to get some that have a scary movie slant, though some are superhero, 1 is a matrix take-off and a couple of star wars ones.

There are many fan films out there, and I've just gotten together a few of the many that are available.

I've also included my monthly program updates that include things like Spybot, Adaware, Avast, etc.

I've also included a couple of media players just in case you need them to view the content.  They are in a folder marked Media Players.

I know this is not a revolutionary release, but I'm at a loss as to what everyone would like to see, so I figured since this is the time of year for costumes and make believe, these fan films would be a nice touch.  Well see you all at the meeting.

Thanx,

Jason Whitener

Google Buys Youtube for 1.6 Billion
by Dennis McMurtrey / GCC Newsletter Editor

Some of you may already know that Google last week bought one of the biggest free video sharing website on the net. So I thought I'd post some of the videos I came accross.

If you have a couple of month's of your life to waste. I encourage you to go to youTube and checkout some of zany videos posted.

You can also upload your own video's, so if you want to be yet another internet legend like the 'Star Wars Kid' or the 'Numa Numa'... Or then again, maybe not.

Anyway youTube & firefox youTube related extensions will be a upcoming demo of mine.

cya at tomorrow's meeting.
