Hello From The Pres...
Mike Taphorn

This meeting is going to be a little different. The board members decided to get a little creative and I think you’ll like it.

The show is coming up and we’ll have the sign up sheets for the booth if Victor reads this message before the meeting.

If he doesn’t, we’ll pull together a makeshift form and pass it around to make sure we have enough volunteers. I’m going to miss Saturday night and Sunday morning so we’ll have to make sure someone can cover for me. Chuck Hill has Bryce this weekend and his time in the booth will be limited too.

Enough chatter…

The demo will be on Ethernet Routers and how to reprogram and use them as webservers. We’ll also cover a little bit of wireless networking and case modding. It should be an interesting and demo and not our usual demo kinda night.

The 50/50 drawing is getting better. The board members and I talked about our finances and the fact that we actually have money now for the first time in 20 years. We talked about donating to charity and helping the poor and then we decided that the poor and needy should get their own money. Just kidding… We’ll probably do some giving in the future. But, this is club money and club members should have it. I like having money in the bank, but, we decided to give a little back to the members (If they’re lucky). I say (If they’re lucky) because what we have in mind is a progressive 50/50 prize. The first 50/50 ticket drawn will get $25. The next four tickets will get prizes. So far it sounds like our normal deal. It gets better. We’re going to let the five winners draw a card from a standard deck of cards + one joker card. If someone draws the lucky joker card they’ll get $100 and the drawing ends. If nobody wins the prize, we’ll add $25 to the prize total and try again the next month without the five losing cards. The most we could ever go is 10 months before someone wins the big prize. It should be fun. I’m sure that the big winner will buy donuts and so we’ll all be happy….

See you at the meeting …

 Mike

May 19 minutes

The president, Mike Taphorn, started the meeting at 7 PM sharp. He opened the meeting by explaining about the availability of a new CD full of utilities that presently is available with the librarian. He also explained in general terms the meeting's presentation for that night. He followed by welcoming a number of new members and guests. Mike also explained about the upcoming computer show that will be held at the Collinsville Gateway Convention Center. He continued with the Questions and Answer session which lasted about 30 minutes. After the Q&A meeting Mike was the lecturer himself, with the help of the little elves, for the evening's presentation. He explained in detail the different functions of the different utility programs. Our next membership meeting will be on June 16 at the same time and place.

Till then,

Carlos
